33rd Annual Vesak Celebration

New York, NY—The Buddhist Council of New York, an association of diverse and international Buddhist temples and organizations, is pleased to announce that it will celebrate its 33rd Anniversary Vesak event with a public program on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 1:00pm – 4:30pm. This year’s Vesak will be held at Union Theological Seminary @3042 Broadway, Upper Westside, NY. Vesak marks the traditional celebration of the Buddha’s life milestones including his birthday, enlightenment and passing away into nirvana. Vesak is celebrated in various ways in countries around the world. Celebrating Vesak involves making special efforts to reduce the suffering of sentient beings and foster happiness and blessings for all.
