February 2021

Dear Dharma leaders,

The Buddhist Council of New York would like to cordially invite you to the Annual Buddhist Forum on Monday, February 15, 2021, from 1pm – 3pm.  The Forum will be a Zoom event and shall be a gathering for Buddhist leaders from various Buddhist centers, organizations, and temples.  We are asking each temple(center, organization) to send 1-3 representatives. Kindly note that I would like to forward to your attention the fact that the BCNY’s annual forum is slated for Nirvana Day (….. next Monday, February 15th from 1-3PM! via ZOOM!!!

We need to remember that we have made it through a very challenging time in our world’s and our nation’s history. Indeed, this year as a result of the COVID pandemic we have had to face many difficult obstacles together from virus related deaths to disruptions to our life rituals centering on births as well as end of life and how we communally grieve.

With that as our backdrop our theme for this year’s forum is:
“RECOVERING FROM CHAOS AND CHALLENGE IN A TIME OF CHANGE”

I truly believe that we now understand and appreciate that when we ban together and seek to spread what we know to be true, in accordance with the Dharma, everything will work itself out.

This years speakers include Ven. Koshin Paley Ellison, NY Zen Center for Contemplative Care; William Kwok, NY Police Department; Mr. Yang Lee, Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundationand Kajori Chaudhuri, NYC Commission of Human Rights. Please see the flyer(attached) and schedule (following this letter).
